Dorothy Merritts: An Unnatural River Runs Through It

Dorothy Merritts, professor of earth and environment at Franklin and Marshall College, delivers the second annual William Morris Davis Lecture, a series sponsored by the Department of Geology and Geophysics at Boston College. Her talk, titled “An Unnatural River Runs Through It,” deals with the legacy of colonial-era mill dams on river processes. This talk is based on research conducted by Merritts and her colleague Robert Walter that appeared in Science earlier this year.
